March 4, 2008

Whew! February just flew by!!! Shane performed very well in the Area spelling bee, correctly spelling "fiefdom" and impressing all, and ended in the 4th place! Yeah Shane!!! Shane also turned 12 on the 21st, with many new privileges; shotgun rides in the car, babysitting, Aaronic Priesthood, passing sacrament, home teaching etc. He has already selected his classes for Junior High School!!! He'll be taking 4 AP classes!!

Rebekah turned 5 on the 25th! The morning of her birthday she asked ", am I going to school today?" I think she kind of knew it was not time...but there was such great hope!!!

On Valentines day, Michelle, Christelle, Kimberly and the Geo Metro were recipients of a rear-end collision, exploding the back window and propelling us into the car ahead of us!!! Everyone recieved minor injuries, except the little red Metro...sadly, he lost his life. Saddened by this loss we welcomed a new family member--a silver Toyota Yaris, and we all love her very much already!!

Christelle and Kimberly both missed thier school Valentines Parties that day, and were very sad, so a couple days later we had an impromptu Valentines Party at home... we sang "Love At Home" and the kids opened thier special valentines from Great Grandma Baker, and we enjoyed frosting and sprinkling graham crackers as a treat!!

On Sunday February 24th Grandma and Grandpa Jones, and Aunt Sandy, Uncle Sam and Ammon came to our house for a turkey dinner and combined birthday party (Grandma Jones Birthday was the 15th.) Shane also was ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood, by Dony after church that day.

We ended the month with the school kids each performing in the school Talent Show! Shane entertained the audience with a delightful oral recitation of his poem entitled "The All Powerful Smile." Christelle filled the air with sweetness as she sang "The Girl I mean To Be" from the Secret Garden, she had to sing a wide range of pitches for a child, and nailed every one!!! Kimberly's performance yielded oohs and aahs as she sang a peppy rendition of "We Are Different" from the Primary Childrens Songbook, she looked so precious, and seems to have a gift for timing and pitch. Her accompaniment CD was arranged and recorded by Grandpa Jones on his super high-tech electric grand piano!
