Kimberly had her 8th birthday, Monday September 15th, and all her grandparents came to town for her baptism that day. The baptism was not convenient for anyone attending, Papa Dawson flew in for the day from Colorado, Grammie and Grandpa Smith drove here from California, and Grandpa and Grandma Jones left work early and made the trek all the way to Arlington to attend the 4:30pm baptism.
Papa Dawson had to catch a flight back to Colorado, but all the rest, including Aunt Sandy and Cousin Ammon, came to our house for a Grilled Pork Loin dinner.
I think the water was a bit of a shock to Kimberly because after exiting the font her words were "I'm all wet!" Well, Kimberly, thats just what happens when you get baptized!!! In Sacrament meeting, the previous Sunday, while the Sacrament was being passed, Kimberly whispered in my ear, "Mom, when you hear the Sacrament prayer, that's actually not Jesus talking, it's the Priests saying it on a microphone!"
Papa Dawson spoke about the Holy Ghost at the baptism, and brought little cricket clickers for every child, and Kimberly could hardly wait for the closing prayer to end so she could get one from him! Kimberly has been working on her Faith in God program already (she actually started a week before her birthday!) Kimberly has been taking piano lessons for about 6 weeks from Mary Jane McLain, and practices almost every day without being asked, she loves it so much!!! Kimberly was able to attend Activity Days for the first time last Tuesday, and loved it! She is planning to invite her best friend from school to attend next time.
Grammie and Grandpa Smith were able to spend the next few days with us. They brought a DVD projector and screen (we don't have any white bare walls in our house) and showed us slides and video from thier early life, cruise, a special presentation about the Tree of Life, and Mission pictures. Dad (Dave Smith) also got to attend a Rangers game with Dony, Shane and the ward youth. Dad bought us some great accessories and tools to use with our grill, and we enjoyed rotissere chicken from the grill one night, and--of course, Panchos the other. (It's actually a shock that we made it to Panchos only ONCE this visit!)
